Balance through force, the general's art, strategic warfare
Draeven was not always a god. He was a servitor spirit -- a created being, not a divine one -- who earned full divinity through a career of exceptional service to the Shadow Court's mission of maintaining balance between Light and Darkness. This origin matters: he understands power as something demonstrated rather than inherited, and he has no patience for divine authority that does not earn its position.
He serves as General of the Shadow Court and its chief enforcer of balance. He is a strategist first and a warrior second -- his followers are trained to think in terms of parity and consequence rather than victory, which produces a specific kind of soldier: one who fights to prevent any single force from dominating rather than to win for their own side. This is a more demanding discipline than ordinary warfare, and Draeven's clergy reflect it.
His symbol is two crossed swords. His alignment is Lawful Neutral, which in his case means not that he is indifferent to good and evil but that he is committed to something older than both: the principle that no single power should be permitted to become absolute.
